Government Targets Early 2027 for Full Implementation of Zero ODOL Policy

The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Kemenko IPK) has announced that the zero over-dimension and over-loading (ODOL) policy is expected to be implemented by early 2027. Djoko Hartoyo, Assistant Deputy for Inter-Regional Connectivity Development at Kemenko IPK, stated during a national seminar in Jakarta on Tuesday that enforcement is the key to the policy’s success. “Hopefully, at the beginning of next year, the zero ODOL policy can be implemented,” he said. He stressed that the crucial element for the policy to work effectively is strict enforcement. The Ministry of Transportation is strengthening the implementation of the policy towards zero ODOL by 2027 comprehensively, from upstream to downstream, to enhance transport safety and national logistics efficiency. According to Djoko, a commitment from all parties, including ministries, agencies, and logistics transport operators, is necessary to realise the 2027 target. He noted that the comprehensive handling of over-dimension and over-loading vehicles is based on an action plan prepared by the government. Currently, all involved stakeholders are processing steps to address existing problems within the logistics transport ecosystem. He added that supervision must begin at the goods loading point and be reinforced by digital detection on roads, data integration, and law enforcement, ensuring that all parties in the logistics distribution process are monitored and comply with existing regulations.
