Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian, in his capacity as Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, inspected the construction of the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in Kuta Blang subdistrict, Bireuen regency, Aceh, on Saturday (21 February).

After the bridge was previously severed and replaced with a temporary bailey bridge, the government is now preparing a permanent structure.

“We are currently at the riverbank, at Krueng Tingkeum, at the Kuta Blang bridge. We can see that construction is already underway — it has reached 18 per cent completion,” Tito said in a statement on Saturday (21 February 2026).

Tito indicated that construction of the bridge is expected to be completed by July 2026. The bridge represents welcome news for the people of Aceh, as it will facilitate residents’ mobility and serve as a connecting route between Medan and Banda Aceh.

During the visit, in his role as Minister of Home Affairs and Head of the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force for the Sumatra region, and on behalf of the local government, he expressed gratitude to Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo and his team for their hard work.

“These are the troops from Minister of Public Works Dody — they have done extraordinary work. Thank you very much. Hopefully it will be completed soon, God willing,” he said.

Tito was accompanied on the inspection by Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, Bireuen Regent Mukhlis, and Director General of Regional Administration Safrizal.
