Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Director of Cyber Intelligence at PT Spentera, Royke L. Tobing, stated that government support is essential to strengthen technological independence in the field of locally-made cybersecurity and to expand the spread of innovation within the creative cybersecurity industry. “We hope this can initiate a spark so that others are encouraged to ‘create’, so that we can become technologically independent and not remain a net importer,” Royke said during a press conference for the launch of Wolvesight, an AI-based cybersecurity solution, in Jakarta on Thursday. He also noted that government support could revitalise the creative cybersecurity industry to reduce the continuous use of foreign products. According to him, it is time for Indonesia to possess its own cybersecurity products, particularly those that are accessible to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Royke added that as hacking attempts become more sophisticated, more issues within operating systems can be addressed, thereby enhancing the security of corporate transactions. The presence of such local tools is expected to minimise the use of foreign products by local companies, which may otherwise risk transferring confidential corporate data abroad.
