Government strengthens Indonesian visual arts on global stage through MTN
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Culture is strengthening Indonesia’s presence on the global visual arts stage through the “Rising Currents” platform at the Art Central Hong Kong (ACHK) event. This platform forms part of the International Recognition stage in the visual arts field under the National Talent Management (MTN) programme for Arts and Culture. “The presence of ‘Rising Currents’ at Art Central Hong Kong 2026 marks an important step for the MTN Arts and Culture programme in positioning Indonesia’s visual arts ecosystem within global conversations. More than just a presence, this is an effort to build a cultural ecosystem that enables Indonesian visual arts talent to grow sustainably, forge networks, and resonate in the world’s contemporary art landscape,” said Minister of Culture Fadli Zon in a statement confirmed from Jakarta on Wednesday. “Indonesia’s participation in ‘Rising Currents’ at Art Central Hong Kong 2026 reaffirms that Indonesian visual arts must advance further, become more competitive, and be more recognised on the world stage,” he added. The MTN Arts and Culture is a national priority programme managed by the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture, aimed at identifying, developing, and promoting Indonesian arts and culture talent in a structured and sustainable manner, while connecting them with various capacity-building opportunities and market access, both nationally and internationally. This stage seeks to expand exposure, strengthen global networks, and enhance Indonesia’s position in the global art landscape. The platform represents the diversity of contemporary Indonesian visual arts practices and builds connectivity between the national arts and culture ecosystem and international platforms such as ACHK, involving 17 outstanding Indonesian visual arts talents and eight Indonesian art galleries. This initiative, according to him, opens up broader collaboration spaces while ensuring that the diverse artistic practices of Indonesian visual arts talents, both emerging and established, can participate inclusively in the global visual arts arena.
