Government Strengthens Indonesia–Republic of Korea Partnership through 10 MoUs Worth Rp 173 Trillion
The Indonesian government continues to strengthen international cooperation as part of its strategy to promote sustainable economic growth, expand investment, and accelerate technology- and clean energy-based economic transformation. Strong bilateral cooperation is key to addressing global dynamics while opening mutually beneficial collaboration opportunities. “For me, this first state visit is very important. I consider Korea a close friend of Indonesia, and I want to enhance this cooperation,” stated President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Prabowo Subianto, as reported from ekon.go.id on Thursday (2/4/2026). The statement was delivered by President Prabowo during a state visit at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea, Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House), Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday (1/4/2026). The exchange of MoUs reflects the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries, which continues to develop with a long-term orientation. The agreements reached cover various priority sectors, from economy, energy, and digital to health and future industries. In detail, the cooperation includes the establishment of a comprehensive strategic dialogue, strengthening of Economic Cooperation 2.0, development of critical minerals partnerships, and cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) for basic health and human development. Furthermore, the two countries are also strengthening collaboration in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR) as well as financial cooperation, including a partnership between Danantara Indonesia and the Export-Import Bank of Korea. The overall agreements are expected to strengthen the foundation of the national industry while enhancing the economic competitiveness of both countries. This cross-sector cooperation also serves as a concrete step in driving economic transformation towards a more inclusive, innovation-based, and sustainable direction. In addition, collaboration with the Republic of Korea further affirms Indonesia’s position as a strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region, leveraging the advantages of domestic resources and markets, supported by South Korean technology and industrial capacity. Thus, this cooperation is expected to provide tangible benefits to the people of both countries while strengthening economic resilience amid global challenges. “In that meeting, MoUs were signed with a value of 10.2 billion US dollars or approximately Rp 173 trillion,” said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.
