Government Still Reviewing Increase in Pertamax and Similar Fuel Prices

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government has confirmed that subsidised fuel oil (BBM) prices will remain stable until the end of 2026. However, the decision on increasing non-subsidised BBM prices is still in the study phase.

This indicates that users of BBM such as Pertamax and similar products must still await an official certainty from the government.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto emphasised that the government has not yet made a decision regarding the increase in non-subsidised BBM prices.

This statement opens the possibility of price adjustments, especially if global oil price pressures continue.

As is known, the non-subsidised BBM currently circulating in Indonesia is quite diverse. From Pertamina, the types include Pertamax Turbo, Pertamax Green 95, up to Dexlite and Pertamina Dex for diesel engines.

In addition, private fuel stations also offer various non-subsidised BBM options. From Shell, for example, there are Shell Super, Shell V-Power, and Shell V-Power Diesel.

Meanwhile, from BP there are BP 90, BP 92, and BP Ultimate. Vivo Energy offers Revvo 90, Revvo 92, and Revvo 95. All these products are sold following economic prices without government subsidies.

This policy applies with the condition that global oil prices do not exceed an average of $97 per barrel. This means that users of subsidised BBM can still breathe a sigh of relief amid global energy uncertainties.

In line with this, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasised that energy subsidies will continue to be maintained.

He also stated that the government has conducted various simulations, even assuming global oil prices reach $100 per barrel, and the results show that subsidies can still be maintained without excessively burdening the budget.
