Government Steps to Make 2026 Hajj Costs More Affordable

Jakarta — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s spokesperson, Ichsan Marsha, has outlined the government’s commitment to improving hajj service delivery through the Indonesia Hajj Transformation 2026 initiative.

The programme will be implemented through several measures, including enhanced training for hajj officials to provide better guidance and pastoral support to pilgrims. Additionally, the government is promoting improved services from PPIU (Travel Organisers for Umrah Pilgrimage) and PIHK (Organisers of Special Hajj Pilgrimages) to ensure that worshippers receive the services promised by travel operators.

A key objective of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is making hajj more affordable and accessible. The ministry is prioritising cost reduction whilst maintaining service standards for Indonesian pilgrims undertaking this significant religious obligation.
