Government states Indonesia consistently adheres to the free and active political system
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security (Wamenko Polkam) Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus has emphasised that Indonesia consistently applies the free and active foreign policy system.
According to Lodewijk, the implementation of this system is the right step to strengthen national resilience in facing changes in geopolitics, geo-economics, and global technology.
Lodewijk stated this during a public lecture to participants of the Regular Education Programme for the Armed Forces (PPRA) P4N LXIX and P3N XXVII for the 2026 Fiscal Year at the Indonesian National Defence Institute (Lemhannas RI), Jakarta, on Tuesday.
According to Lodewijk, as an archipelagic nation, Indonesia requires strategic and adaptive foreign policy measures.
With such policies, Indonesia can easily build cooperation with other countries for the sake of national security.
Not only beneficial from a security perspective, Lodewijk assessed that the right policies can make it easy for Indonesia to cooperate in the economic field with other countries.
All these benefits can only be obtained by adhering to the free and active political system, which requires Indonesia to build good diplomatic relations on the international stage.
“As conveyed by President Prabowo, a thousand friends are too few, one enemy is too many. This reflects Indonesia’s diplomatic orientation that prioritises cooperation and regional stability,” said Lodewijk in his public lecture.
Lodewijk continued that the direction and goals of Indonesia’s geopolitics are clearly enshrined in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia (UUD NRI), which serves as the foundation for every formulation of national strategic policies, including in the fields of politics and security.
At the end of the lecture material, Lodewijk invited the Lemhannas trainees, as future national leaders, to take an active role in strengthening national resilience.
“We in the Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security look forward to the contributions of the graduates to jointly initiate solutions and strengthen cross-sectoral synergies in resolving various strategic national issues,” he concluded.
On that occasion, several high-ranking officials were present, including the Governor of Lemhannas RI Ace Hasan Syadzily, Deputy for Coordination of Security and Public Order Irjen Pol. Desman Sujaya Tarigan, Deputy for Coordination of Communication and Information Marsda TNI Eko Dono Indarto, and other high-ranking Lemhannas RI officials.
