Government Spends Rp2.84 Trillion on People's Schools Programme in East Java

Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - Wahidin, Head of Budget Implementation Guidance Section I at the East Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury (Kanwil DJPb), stated that the ministry has spent Rp2.84 trillion, or 90.45 percent of the Rp3.14 trillion allocation, on the People’s Schools programme up to 30 June 2026.

“Through the state budget, we support the president’s priority programmes, including the People’s Schools, whose realisation up to the end of June has reached Rp2.84 trillion,” he said at a press conference in Surabaya on Monday.

Wahidin said the Rp2.84 trillion realisation has been accelerated by the government’s commitment to the education sector.

Moreover, the programme has had a tangible impact on job creation, absorbing around 91,417 workers, with construction progressing smoothly thanks to the assistance of 1,731 TNI personnel.

He revealed that this year there are 18 priority locations for People’s Schools construction in East Java.

These 18 locations are divided into four work packages. The first package targets five locations: Sampang Regency, Surabaya City, Gresik Regency, Tuban Regency, and Tuban Regency.

The second package targets four locations: Nganjuk Regency, Ngawi Regency, Pacitan Regency, and Madiun Regency.

The third package covers four locations: Pasuruan Regency, Pasuruan City, Kediri Regency, and Kediri City.

The fourth package will include the construction of People’s Schools in five locations: Malang Regency, Blitar Regency, Trenggalek Regency, Banyuwangi Regency, and Jember Regency.
