Government Simplifies Foreign Worker Permits to Support Investment

The Indonesian government is cutting the permit process for foreign workers (TKA) accompanying capital investment to support industrial sectors that still require foreign labour.

This step was marked by the signing of two Joint Decrees (SKB) between the Minister of Manpower Yassierli, the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services Agus Andrianto, and the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan P. Roeslani on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, in Jakarta.

The first Joint Decree regulates the integration of the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, the Labour Service Information and Application System (SIAPkerja), and the All Indonesia Application. The second Joint Decree establishes an Integration Technical Team to support the implementation of this policy.

With this integration, the foreign worker permit process is expected to be completed within approximately five days. If the deadline is exceeded, permits will be issued automatically according to the applicable mechanism.

“The plan is for implementation to begin at the end of this month; God willing, it will start following the agreement between the three of us,” said Rosan P. Roeslani.

Rosan added that the reduction in permit processing time aims to increase domestic investment and industry, while providing a positive impact on foreign direct investment.

“Because we see that in several industrial sectors, the need for foreign workers is still necessary. Our hope is that this can facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology to our human resources,” explained Rosan, who is also the CEO of Danantara.

Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that services will improve in the future with this Joint Decree, while maintaining monitoring of the foreign worker permit process.

“God willing, we are confident that in its implementation, it will provide more effective and efficient services and results,” said Yassierli.
