Government Sets 'Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia' as Theme for 81st Independence Day
The government has designated ‘Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil, dan Makmur’ (Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia) as the official theme for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026. The theme will serve as the primary foundation for the entire series of independence celebrations, including the visual identity to be used nationally.
Vice Minister of the State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro stated that the established theme will later be combined with the official logo for the 81st Independence Day, which is currently still in the selection process.
‘We wish to convey that for the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence in 2026, in addition to today’s announcement of the public poll for the official logo selection, we also want to announce that the theme for the 81st Independence Day commemoration has been chosen and established, namely, Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil, dan Makmur,’ Juri said during a press conference at the Presidential Office on Wednesday (24/6).
According to Juri, the theme will not stand alone. The selected logo will form a unified whole with the overarching message the government intends to convey through this year’s independence commemoration. ‘Later, this theme will become one entity with the logo that will be chosen and then designated as the official logo for the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence,’ he stated.
Unlike previous years, the determination of the Independence Day logo this time involves direct public participation. The government has opened a public poll for citizens to choose the design that will become the official identity of the independence commemoration through the official website logohutri.istanapresiden.go.id from 24 to 28 June 2026.
Juri explained that public involvement is a directive from the President so that the Independence Day celebration truly belongs to all Indonesian people. Therefore, the public is given the opportunity to help determine the logo and visuals to be used nationally.
‘The President wants the Indonesian people to be directly involved, to participate in determining the logo and the visual of the logo that will be used or designated as the Independence Day logo,’ said Juri.
He added that public participation in the logo selection is part of an effort to build a sense of ownership towards the independence commemoration. By being involved from the initial stage, the public is expected not only to enjoy the festivities of Independence Day but also to become part of its formative process.
‘So, the President’s directive is that the festivity of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day also belongs to the people, belongs to all Indonesian society, so it is hoped that the public will actively participate and take a role in this year’s Independence Day commemoration,’ he concluded.
