Government Sets Eid al-Fitr 1447 H on Saturday, 21 March
The Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof Nasaruddin Umar, has officially announced that 1 Syawal 1447 H/2026 AD falls on Saturday (21/3/2026), the day after tomorrow. This result was determined after the Minister led the Isbat session held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs office on Jl MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta.
“1 Syawal 1447 H/2026 AD falls on Saturday, 21 March 2026,” stated Nasaruddin during a press conference after the Isbat session on Thursday (19/3/2026).
Thus, the Eid al-Fitr date from this Isbat session differs from the decision of Muhammadiyah, which had already set Eid al-Fitr earlier. Through its decree, Muhammadiyah has determined that 1 Syawal 1447 H falls on Friday (20/3/2026) tomorrow.
This Isbat session determination was made after considering the results of calculations of the crescent moon’s position and reports of crescent sightings in various regions in Indonesia.
This Isbat session involved various elements, including representatives of friendly country ambassadors, leaders of Commission VIII of the DPR RI, representatives of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Ulema Council, as well as related institutions such as the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, the Geospatial Information Agency, the National Research and Innovation Agency, and falak academics, including from the Bandung Institute of Technology.
