JAKARTA—Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has stated that the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) is projected to reach 5 million tonnes in April 2026.

Sulaiman noted that the CBP stock currently held in Perum Bulog warehouses has reached 3.9 million tonnes, marking the largest stockpile in Indonesian history. “This week, God willing, we will reach 4 million tonnes, and within a month, 5 million tonnes. This has never happened throughout the history of the Indonesian Republic,” Sulaiman stated on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Based on the latest stocks and rice in the field, the Agriculture Ministry predicts that CBP volume could even reach 6 million tonnes. “God willing, in April, May, and June, we could reach 6 million tonnes,” Sulaiman said.

By comparison, Bulog’s procurement realisations as of 11 March 2026 exceeded rice procurement figures equivalent to domestic production in the first quarter of 2025. According to records from the National Food Agency (Bapanas), rice procurement realisation as of 11 March reached 928.2 thousand tonnes.

This procurement volume is 208.8 thousand tonnes higher than the January-March 2025 procurement level of 719.3 thousand tonnes.

Sulaiman, who also serves as Head of Bapanas, described this achievement as the result of hard work from all parties implementing President Prabowo Subianto’s vision for advancing the people’s economy. “Our achievement is, praise be, extraordinary. We have already begun exporting to other countries and, God willing, three more countries should follow as we export to neighbouring nations,” Sulaiman said.

Recognising the significant volume of CBP procurement, Bapanas issued National Food Agency Regulation (Perbapanas) Number 2 of 2026. This regulation sharpens several key aspects in the rice procurement and distribution process to further improve CBP stock management.

The regulation also clarifies the procurement of Harvest Dried Grain (GKP), Dried Milled Grain (GKG), medium-grade rice, and premium rice for CBP stocks. Bapanas emphasises that GKP purchased must be grain that has reached harvest maturity.

Bapanas also stated that GKP can be processed into GKG, medium-grade rice, and premium rice. In these procurement operations, Bapanas has instructed Bulog to use the Government Purchase Price (HPP).
