Government Reveals 100 Million Indonesians Have Participated in Free Health Checks

Qodari also revealed that 4.8 million children have undergone health examinations. These checks were conducted in 48,000 schools. “Specifically for school-aged children, based on data from the period 1 January 2026 to 3 May, the Ministry of Health has screened 4.8 million children in 48,000 schools across Indonesia,” he said. In the school examinations, Qodari also disclosed that 663,000 children already have high blood pressure in 2026. He described the hundreds of thousands of children with hypertension as a new phenomenon. “As many as 22.1% or 663,000 children are experiencing elevated blood pressure—children are starting to have high blood pressure. This is a new phenomenon: children with high blood pressure,” he added. Qodari stated that CKG is present to detect health problems in children as early as possible. This will enable diseases to be treated promptly. Qodari also revealed government efforts to address tuberculosis (TB). Qodari said that TB detection equipment will be provided in community health centres starting this year. “Strengthening detection in community health centres. Community health centres will be equipped with NPOCD equipment, Near Point of Care Testing, and X-ray examinations, which will begin in the second semester of this year,” he said. Qodari conveyed that the government has identified 241,000 active TB cases. Eighty-four percent of them have been initiated on treatment. “On 3 May 2026, the national TB programme achievements are as follows: case finding of more than 241,000 cases, treatment initiation at 84% of the 90% target, and treatment success at 80% of the 90% target,” he said. The government has also conducted tracing in 13 districts and cities in West Java and Central Java. The government will expand this tracing nationally. “Total target of 5,500 contacts from TB patients from April to May 2026. This will be expanded nationally in stages,” he said. In addition, the government will renovate 8,000 TB patient homes in 2026. This renovation is an increase from previous years. “And this is an increase from 300 homes per year, in 2020 to 2023,” he added.
