Government Renovates LVRI Secretariats, Refurbishes Veterans' Homes Across 19 Provinces
The government, through the Ministry of Defence, has renovated nine secretariats of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) and Branch Leadership Council (DPC) of the Veterans’ Legion of Indonesia (LVRI). In addition, 52 veterans’ homes spread across 19 provinces have also been renovated.
The inauguration of this renovation programme was carried out symbolically by LVRI Chairman General (Ret.) H.B.L. Mantiri, accompanied by Secretary of the National Reserve Component (Ses Bacadnas) of the Ministry of Defence Major General Freddy Ardianzah, representing Head of the National Reserve Component of the Ministry of Defence Lieutenant General Gabriel Lema. The event took place at the LVRI Subang Branch Council and was attended by LVRI board members, elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), and invited guests.
“This programme is a tangible manifestation of the state’s respect and care for the Veterans of the Republic of Indonesia for their service, sacrifice, and dedication in seizing, defending, and upholding the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Major General Freddy on Thursday (6/8/2026).
In addition to renovating secretariats and repairing veterans’ homes, the Ministry of Defence also held health services for veterans. This activity is part of efforts to improve the welfare and quality of life of the nation’s fighters.
“This entire series of activities serves as proof that respect for veterans does not stop at ceremonies, but is realised through programmes that provide tangible benefits,” he said.
Freddy said the state is responsible for ensuring that the nation’s fighters continue to receive proper respect. He also affirmed the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to continue supporting various LVRI programmes in carrying out its service to the nation and state.
“Veterans of the Republic of Indonesia have never stopped serving. In their twilight years, they continue to pass on the spirit, enthusiasm, and values of the 1945 struggle to the next generation as a foundation for building Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
Meanwhile, General (Ret.) H.B.L. Mantiri appreciated the government’s attention to veterans. According to him, the assistance for secretariat renovations and home rehabilitation not only improves physical facilities but also serves as a symbol that the state has never forgotten the services of the independence fighters.
Mantiri affirmed that LVRI will continue to maintain unity, preserve the spirit, enthusiasm, and values of the 1945 struggle, and play an active role in supporting national development for the continued standing of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The Ministry of Defence hopes that the renovation of LVRI secretariats can strengthen the organisation’s function as a centre for guidance, fellowship, and the passing on of struggle values to the younger generation.
Meanwhile, the rehabilitation of veterans’ homes represents the state’s presence in ensuring that the nation’s fighters can enjoy a more dignified, safe, and respectable life. The 2026 National Veterans Day commemoration serves as a momentum for the entire community to continue honouring the services of veterans.
The spirit of service, patriotism, and love of the homeland inherited by veterans is expected to continue serving as a foundation in strengthening national unity and safeguarding the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
