West Lombok (ANTARA) – The Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, stated that the Lombok-Bali sea crossing route will be regulated during Nyepi to maintain smooth transport flow and honour the observance of the Hindu holy day.

“On 18 March, ferry crossings from Lombok will close from 09:00 WITA and reopen on 20 March 2026 at 04:00 in the early morning,” he said during an inspection of the mudik (holiday-period migration) flow at Lembar Port, West Lombok, on Sunday.

Iqbal explained that the adjustment of ferry schedules was made in accordance with a Joint Decision Letter (SKB) and regulations implemented by the Balinese Government concerning the implementation of religious activities.

According to him, the port opening and closure policy aims to maintain orderly ferry traffic whilst ensuring all activities by communities in Lombok and Bali during Nyepi can take place solemnly.

“Ferry crossing activities from the Bali side will begin closing on 19 March 2026,” Iqbal stated.

During the inspection of the mudik flow at Lembar Port in West Lombok Regency, Governor Iqbal noted that ferry crossings to and from Lombok remained under control despite an increase in arrivals.

The flow of incoming goods, vehicles, and passengers has increased by approximately 20 percent in the Lembar Port area.

Most of the incoming mudik flow to Lombok originates from Padangbai Port in Karangasem Regency, Bali. Meanwhile, the outbound flow of mudik from Lombok Island is expected to increase following Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The NTB Government, together with relevant authorities, continues to monitor port conditions to ensure ferry services continue to operate safely, orderly, and smoothly during the extended holiday period of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 2026.
