Government refines SPPI programme to manage cooperatives and fishing villages

The government is refining the Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) training programme to prepare managers for the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDMP) and Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih (KNMP). Head of the Government Communication Body (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari stated on Monday that the improvements are intended to make the programme more targeted. “We want to produce human resources who are not only professional and have integrity, but are also ready to embrace the government’s priority programmes with full confidence,” Qodari said. He explained that core materials such as character building, discipline, leadership, and patriotism will be retained. However, the implementation methods have been adjusted to be more effective and accommodating to the physical and mental condition of participants. “We will witness the birth of a generation of movers who are not only scientifically competent, but also possess strong character and a spirit of national defence,” he added. Qodari affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting and preparing the nation’s best sons and daughters to serve through the KDMP and KNMP programmes. Consequently, the government is prioritising the safety, health, and welfare of participants throughout the training. “The government is not turning a blind eye. We accept every suggestion from the public as a form of shared concern,” he said. Qodari added that a comprehensive evaluation of the training concept has been conducted. Whereas the training previously focused on fairly intensive basic military and managerial drills, it has now been refined into state defence and managerial training.
