Government Raises Naturalisation Fee for Foreigners to IDR 75 Million

The government has set the official fee for naturalisation applications by foreign nationals (WNA) seeking Indonesian citizenship (WNI) as Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP). The tariff is regulated under the latest provisions applicable within the Ministry of Law.

Based on Government Regulation (PP) Number 30 of 2026 concerning Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) Applicable to the Ministry of Law, the fee for citizenship applications based on requests from foreign nationals (naturalisation) is set at IDR 75,000,000 per application. This tariff has increased from the previous rate of IDR 50,000,000 stipulated in PP Number 45 of 2024.

Naturalisation is a legal pathway for foreign nationals to obtain Indonesian citizenship. However, the process requires not only the payment of the PNBP but also the fulfilment of various administrative and substantive requirements as regulated in Law Number 12 of 2006 concerning the Citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia and its implementing regulations.

According to the provisions, naturalisation applicants must meet several criteria, including being at least 18 years of age or married, having resided in Indonesia for a specified period, being physically and mentally healthy, being able to speak the Indonesian language, acknowledging Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, having a job or fixed income, and fulfilling other requirements in accordance with laws and regulations.

The naturalisation application is submitted to the President through the Minister of Law by completing all required documents. Following administrative and substantive checks, the application will be processed until a decision is issued, provided all requirements are met.

If the application is approved and the applicant has taken the oath or pledge of allegiance as an Indonesian citizen, the individual obtains Indonesian citizenship status along with the rights and obligations attached in accordance with laws and regulations.

The government has set this latest tariff as part of the adjustment of PNBP within the Ministry of Law. Foreign nationals planning to apply for naturalisation are advised to study all requirements, procedures, and legal consequences before submitting an application to ensure the process complies with applicable regulations.
