The Indonesian government continues to encourage the role of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector to strengthen domestic economic stability.

The Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, stated that the MSME sector plays a vital role in supporting the economic growth of Indonesian families and communities. “The existence of MSMEs is very important for the national economy, regional economies, and family economies,” said Qodlar following a socialisation and assistance programme for BPOM and Halal certification in South Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday.

He emphasised that economic growth must be inclusive and beneficial to all parties. Through collaboration, all relevant agencies must realise economic movement that is centred on the people. “Because across various business categories—large, medium, small, and micro—the largest group is MSMEs, and this sector serves as the backbone of the economy,” he added.

As a commitment to supporting and strengthening the MSME sector, the government has provided various forms of assistance, including attention through institutions such as the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) and the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) to provide certification and legality to these enterprises. He noted that these initiatives are made possible through the support of local governments, particularly relevant MSME-related departments.

Furthermore, as a concrete step, the government is implementing national programmes for the empowerment of MSMEs and cooperatives, as well as increasing digital and financial access to help MSMEs integrate into global value chains. “In the future, MSME products can enter wider markets. Not just online, but also into minimarkets, the Merah Putih Cooperatives, and other venues that can increase their turnover,” he concluded.
