The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikdasmen) has proposed an additional budget of Rp89.5 trillion, which is currently in the process of being submitted as a Supplementary Expenditure Budget (ABT) for 2026 through the Ministry of Finance.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has proposed an additional budget of Rp89.5 trillion to support the targets of the Rapid School Revitalisation Programme across Indonesia, which has been increased to 60,000 units in 2026.

“Kemendikdasmen has proposed an additional budget of Rp89.5 trillion, which is currently in the process of being submitted as a Supplementary Expenditure Budget (ABT) for 2026 through the Ministry of Finance,” stated Presidential Chief of Staff Muhammad Qodari during a press conference at the Bina Graha Building of the Presidential Staff Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.

This step is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Quick Best Results Programme (PHTC) to strengthen the national education sector. Qodari explained that the target for school revitalisation in 2026 has seen a very significant increase.

Initially, the government allocated a budget of Rp14.1 trillion to target 11,744 educational units in 2026. However, the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education has increased the number of schools to be renovated to 60,000 units.

Qodari emphasised that this increase demonstrates the President’s great attention to the quality of learning facilities and infrastructure for the nation’s children. He dismissed any notion of budget cuts in this crucial sector.

“So, in 2025, it rises from 10,000 to 16,000; for 2026, what has already been allocated around 11,000 is planned to be increased to 60,000,” he added.

Regarding the achievements for the current year, as of 11 March 2026, 16,062 schools have completed physical construction. This figure covers most of the total target of 16,167 schools planned for 2025. Currently, there are still 105 educational units in the process of completing physical construction.

The government assures that all these projects continue to run according to the safety and quality standards set in the Rapid Programme.

In addition to revitalising the main buildings, improvements also cover supporting facilities such as toilets and healthy learning environments. This is seen as a long-term investment by the state to produce superior generations.

With the Rapid school revitalisation PHTC continuing, Qodari believes its positive impact can also stimulate the local economy through community self-management schemes.
