The Government Communication Agency (Bakom) has stated that the government is proposing a financing scheme for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage with a composition of 60 percent sourced from the value of benefits derived from the management of Hajj funds by the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) and 40 percent borne by pilgrims through the Hajj travel costs.

Deputy III of Bakom RI, Kurnia Ramadhana, said the proposal has been submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR) as part of the formulation of the 2027 Hajj Travel Costs (BPIH).

“For the financing scheme, the government continues to propose a composition of 60 percent from the value of benefits from the management of Hajj funds by BPKH and 40 percent from the value of Hajj travel costs to ease the real burden on pilgrims while anticipating a surge in service costs in Saudi Arabia,” Kurnia said during a press conference in Jakarta.

He explained that preparations for the 2027 Hajj have already begun. The government has prepared implementation stages adjusted to the schedule of the Saudi Arabian Government, including the proposed BPIH and its details which have been submitted to the DPR.

In addition to drafting the financing scheme, the government is also accelerating the resolution of several strategic issues to support next year’s Hajj operations. These include planning based on quota assumptions, strengthening health screenings or istitha’ah for pilgrims, funding schemes for flight cost shortfalls, accelerating service negotiations with Hajj service providers, and speeding up the transfer of state-owned assets related to Hajj operations.

Kurnia said the government will also tighten health eligibility checks for prospective pilgrims to reduce morbidity and mortality rates during the pilgrimage in the Holy Land. Furthermore, training for Hajj officers at both central and regional levels will be strengthened to ensure uniform service standards for pilgrims.

The government also plans to improve healthcare services in Saudi Arabia, enhance the governance of animal slaughter services, and refine accommodation, transportation, and catering services. Additionally, the use of Hajj quotas will be ensured to comply with regulations, while the procurement process for services will be conducted more efficiently, transparently, and accountably.

“These steps are part of the government’s commitment to delivering a Hajj operation that is increasingly safe, comfortable, and oriented towards the needs of the pilgrims,” Kurnia added.
