Government Promises Scholarships and Job Opportunities for People's School Graduates
The government promises a bright future for People’s School (SR) graduates through university scholarship schemes up to overseas job opportunities to break the chain of extreme poverty, while creating a new, more competitive generation. “Those who want to go to university will be given full scholarships. Those who want to become skilled workers, including skilled workers abroad, will be guided by the government,” said Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf at the Provincial Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbang) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in Mataram on Thursday. Mensos Saifullah Yusuf stated that the government wants People’s School graduates to become agents of change for their families and surrounding environment. The People’s School programme is part of the central government’s strategic policy to accelerate poverty alleviation through affirmative-based education. Mensos conveyed that the memorandum of understanding regarding the provision of full scholarships for People’s School graduates is complete, so they can continue to university without financial issues. “The scheme is ready, the MoU is ready. All People’s School graduates, God willing, after completing school or university, can become agents of change for their families and environment,” said Mensos Saifullah Yusuf. People’s School students live in dormitories, receive school uniforms, three meals a day, two light snacks a day, and learning based on the Learning Management System (LMS). They also receive laptops, teachers teach using laptops, and digital whiteboards. “This is the state’s offering to the children who are most unable. This is to accelerate their education to catch up on years of lag. So others should not be jealous because this is specifically for them,” said Mensos Saifullah Yusuf.
