Government Prepares WFH Implementation for Savings Due to Oil Prices
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the work-from-home (WFH) scheme is a response to the rise in oil prices. He explained that the government needs efficiency.
“With high oil prices, efficiency in working hours is needed, where flexibility for work from home will be opened,” said Airlangga after a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (19/3).
The implementation of WFH for five days can be flexible. The WFH scheme is not only for civil servants (ASN), but private offices and local governments can also apply it.
Nevertheless, according to Airlangga, the WFH policy is still under discussion. The government will announce it once it is mature.
For the implementation time of WFH, continued Airlangga, it can be announced after Lebaran. The duration will depend on the development of the global situation affecting oil prices.
“We’ll see the oil price situation, the war situation,” he said.
Airlangga mentioned that President Prabowo has responded positively to the WFH plan because it can bring savings. Limited mobility will reduce fuel oil (BBM) consumption.
“It’s good because there are savings in terms of mobility usage of petrol. The savings are 1/5,” he explained.
Airlangga assessed that the implementation of WFH has the potential to provide significant savings in fuel consumption, especially from the transportation sector.
