Government Prepares Strategy to Face Peak Return Flow on 28 and 29 March
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, along with Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno and Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, inspected traffic conditions. The inspection was conducted to ensure preparedness for the Lebaran 2026 return flow, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
The government is monitoring traffic in real time. Monitoring is carried out through the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC), reports from post officers, and cross-agency coordination.
Dudy assessed that public compliance during the outbound journey was quite good. The accident rate was recorded to have decreased.
“In the implementation of the outbound and return transportation that consistently follows the instructions of officers in the field, resulting in a decrease in accident rates, we hope that the number of accidents and fatalities continues to decline,” said the Minister of Transportation in an official statement.
“We hope that the public can utilise Work From Anywhere (WFA) as well as toll fare discounts to reduce density during the peak return flow,” Dudy continued.
Dudy also reminded of restrictions on goods vehicles. Vehicles with three or more axles are not allowed to pass during the period of 13-29 March 2026 in accordance with the Joint Ministerial Decree.
Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono reported on the outbound and return flow conditions. The monitoring period covers H-10 to H+3 of Lebaran or 11-25 March 2026.
The report covers traffic volume, traffic engineering, rest area management, to the use of technology at JMTC which is connected to the Travoy application.
“Travel during the outbound flow went well although the peak outbound flow on 18 March 2026 reached 270,000, which is the highest figure in history,” said Rivan.
“We once again remind the public to take advantage of toll fare discounts on 26-27 March and use the Travoy application to plan trips even better,” said Rivan.
