Government Prepares Rp 31 Trillion to Convert Part-Time PPPK to Full-Time
The government has prepared a budget of approximately Rp 31 trillion to support the change in status of part-time Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) to full-time PPPK starting in 2027.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the budget has been prepared by the central government. According to him, the funding requirement for the policy will not disrupt next year’s fiscal condition because it will be met through budget reallocation.
“For part-time PPPK becoming full-time under the central government, the budget is around Rp 31 trillion, we have prepared it,” said Purbaya when met at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Thursday (20/8/2026).
Purbaya also assured that the policy will not endanger next year’s fiscal condition. This is because the additional budget for the status transition process is carried out through budget reallocation.
In addition, the transition process will not be carried out all at once. Rather, it will be done gradually over the next three years.
“So we hope this provides certainty to PPPK teacher workers. So there is no need to worry going forward,” he said.
As is known, a few days ago, the DPR and the government agreed on the status of PPPK teachers, including the appointment of part-time PPPK to full-time status. In addition, it was also agreed to provide opportunities for PPPK teachers to participate in civil servant (PNS) selection.
Based on a presentation by Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini, there are 955,245 teachers with PPPK status. Of that number, 231,246 are part-time PPPK.
The government has also projected the need for national teacher fulfilment at 526,689 positions. This need includes teachers for schools under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, People’s Schools, and Garuda Schools.
“The number of PPPK specifically for teachers is 955,245 people and part-time PPPK whose profession is teacher is 231,246 people, and it happens that at this time there is a projected need for national teacher fulfilment of 526,689 positions,” said Rini after a meeting between the government and the DPR, Tuesday (18/8/2026).
The government will provide opportunities for part-time PPPK teachers to transition to full-time PPPK in 2027. Meanwhile, teachers who already have full-time PPPK status will have the opportunity to participate in PNS selection which is expected to open in early 2027.
“Part-time PPPK will be given the opportunity to become full-time PPPK which will be carried out in 2027. Then opportunities will also be given for PPPK teachers to participate in PNS selection which is expected to open for registration in early 2027. Then we will also open it for the projected national teacher needs for 2026, including the needs for People’s Schools and Integrated Schools as well as Garuda Schools,” she explained.
