Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that the government is preparing policies to support the development of the national game industry and to increase the competitiveness of domestic game products in the global market. “We are continuously discussing incentives, studies, and regulations to strengthen the game subsector,” he said, as quoted in a ministry press release confirmed on Monday. “It is hoped that these policies can meet the needs of the industry while encouraging creative players not only to survive but also to grow and become more prosperous,” he added. He noted that the national game industry continues to grow, with more than 40 local games released in the past year. During a visit to Gambir Studio in Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta, on Saturday (25/4), the Minister of Creative Economy highlighted the significant opportunities for the local game industry to develop. According to him, this is evident, among other things, from the increase in the number of users of the local game KuloNiku produced by Gambir Studio. “In less than two weeks since its launch, this game has reached nearly 60,000 users. This shows that local games have great potential to develop and become a new economic force,” he said. The game developed by this studio includes KuloNiku: Bowl Up!, which is inspired by typical Indonesian cuisine. “We are not only making games but also carrying a cultural mission. There is collaboration between cuisine, animation, and games. This proves that the creative economy cannot stand alone but must grow through collaboration,” said Chief Executive Officer of Gambir Studio Shafiq Husein. He stated that the development of KuloNiku is inseparable from the role of Gamescom 2025 as well as government support in opening access and encouraging collaboration with game product publishers.
