REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, is pushing for breakthroughs in financing subsidised flats to speed up the provision of decent housing for the public. He stated that the government is preparing a new financing scheme for flats this year. This step is considered important given that the realisation of flat construction in recent years has still been relatively limited compared to needs.

“In the last five years, the realisation of flats has been around 140 units, while subsidised landed houses last year reached 278,000 units. Going forward, we are pushing for financing breakthroughs, both for flats and subsidised landed houses, so that programme achievements increase further, including higher targets next year,” Maruarar said in his statement in Jakarta on Monday.

He appreciated the performance of BP Tapera, which has shown positive progress in promoting housing financing.

According to him, this achievement is important capital for introducing a more effective and targeted financing scheme.

“Tapera is very good. This is the result of hard work by the entire team,” he said.

In addition, Maruarar emphasised that the achievement of subsidised landed house construction shows a positive trend with realisations reaching hundreds of thousands of units in the previous year.

Going forward, strengthening the financing scheme is expected to accelerate housing provision while driving national property sector growth.

The Ministry of PKP reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening housing financing schemes and improving the quality of public housing through targeted, adaptive, and sustainable programmes.

Maruarar also emphasised the government’s commitment to delivering subsidised flat policies that favour the public through an inclusive and participatory process.
