Government Prepares Formation of K3P Committee to Optimise Demographic Bonus
The Ministry of Population and Family Development/National Population and Family Planning Board (Kemendukbangga/BKKBN), together with several related ministries, is preparing the formation of the Labour and Education Sector Policy Committee (K3P) to optimise the demographic bonus sustainably. “We are holding cross-ministerial and institutional discussions to implement the Population Development Roadmap in the labour and education sectors. This collaboration is formed to support the construction being drafted by President Prabowo so that Indonesia can accelerate towards becoming a developed country and support the achievement of 8 percent economic growth,” said Kemendukbangga Secretary Budi Setiyono in an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday. He explained that the roadmap is designed as an effort to capitalise on the demographic bonus so that the surplus of productive-age population can be utilised optimally. Therefore, his party initiated a joint action plan in both sectors to precisely map the number of workers, competency needs, and market absorption capacity through the K3P Committee. Meanwhile, Head of the Manpower Planning and Development Agency Anwar Sanusi stated that the future dynamics of the world of work remain very numerous, ranging from the alignment of mismatches, the condition of the informal sector, to the challenges of digitalisation with artificial intelligence or AI that encourages a shift towards new types of jobs. “The preparation of an employment outlook is very important as a navigation instrument to see the future labour market map. This data can later be used by ministries, institutions, and local governments in formulating targeted labour policies,” said Anwar. He also emphasised the importance of optimising higher education, especially vocational pathways, as a collaboration bridge with the Job Training Institutes (LPK) owned by the Ministry of Manpower. Through this synchronisation, it is hoped that the strengthening of the quality of higher education human resources can run in tandem with the real needs of industry. His party is committed to ensuring that the industrial sector can play an active role and provide real contributions in supporting the success of this major programme projected to become a national agenda.
