Government Prepares Emergency Scheme, First Hajj Quota Officials Include TNI-Polri Team
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) is preparing contingency or emergency schemes for the protection of Hajj pilgrims departing amid the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
“Clearly, the Hajj officials will be prepared with contingency schemes, meaning emergency schemes,” stated Deputy Minister of Hajj Dahnil when met at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026).
The Linjam team, comprising Hajj officials from TNI and Polri elements, will serve as the frontline in ensuring the safety and comfort of pilgrims while in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to Linjam, the dispatched officials also include support personnel such as journalists who will be placed at the airport.
“This first batch is mostly the Linjam team, consisting of TNI, Polri, then there are fellow journalists who are also on duty, and those on duty at the airport,” he said.
“So indeed for the contingency plan or in case of emergencies there, the team will be prepared,” he added.
As of today, stated Dahnil, the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has assured that everything is running well and remains under control.
“I am confident that all countries currently in conflict understand that this 2026 Hajj carries a message of peace. Hajj essentially brings a message of peace, a message of equality, a message of protection for women, a message of not harming, even plants and animals must not be harmed,” he said.
“The most important thing today is that we are sending more than 400 officials in stages, and they must fully serve the pilgrims,” he emphasised.
