Government Prepared to Follow the Discussion Process of the Election Bill in the DPR

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs has prepared the substance of the Election Bill (RUU Pemilu) and is ready to follow the discussion process in the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia.

According to Bima, the preparation of the bill’s substance involved various parties, from stakeholders and academics to research institutions.

“If the Ministry of Home Affairs is already prepared, because we are processing this with partners at Bappenas, as well as universities that provide input, research institutions,” said Bima, during the commemoration of the XXX Regional Autonomy Day, at the Ministry of Home Affairs Central Office, Jakarta, on Monday, as reported by Antara.

“And currently led by the Directorate General of Polpum (Politics and General Government), we have prepared the substances to anticipate all possible developments in the DPR,” he said.

The government is said to have readiness both in terms of academic drafts and official views to be presented in discussions with the DPR.

“The important thing is that we have the drafts ready, the government’s views, the inventory of problems list, what the strategic issues are. So whenever the political process requires it, we are ready,” said Bima.
