“I extend my condolences for the incident that took place last night in East Bekasi. We pray that the bereaved families are given strength and that those who lost their lives are granted a place by Allah SWT,” Dudung said in an official statement issued in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Head of the Government Communications Office Muhammad Qodari confirmed that the government has given full attention to handling the tragedy.

He noted that President Prabowo Subianto personally visited the victims at Bekasi Regional Hospital on Tuesday morning.

Qodari expressed hope that all victims would receive optimal medical treatment as soon as possible. He also emphasized the need for a comprehensive evaluation of the transportation system to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“Hopefully, the situation will be handled swiftly and properly, and improvements can be made going forward with a better system, so that similar incidents do not recur,” he said.

Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto visited victims of the train accident at Bekasi Regional Hospital following a collision between a commuter line train and a long-distance train at East Bekasi Station on Monday night (April 27).

The president conveyed his deep condolences and stressed that the government would immediately conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
