President Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting with several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. During the meeting, Prabowo provided directives regarding the curriculum and rehabilitation models for drug users, particularly targeting adolescents and young people.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, stated that Prabowo is encouraging the formulation of an approach that helps drug users recover while simultaneously returning to a productive life. “The President directed how the curriculum and existing education models should be structured so that they can truly effect change,” Brian said following the meeting at the Presidential Palace complex on Tuesday (29/09/2026).

According to Brian, several universities have already developed rehabilitation programmes supported by technology and educational approaches. Input was also provided by doctors from RSCM and researchers from the University of Indonesia.

These experiences will serve as material for the government in drafting the rehabilitation concept. Consequently, drug-related issues will not be handled solely through legal processes.

“We will use all of this to formulate the best practices already developed by universities, so that the rehabilitation process for drug users, especially adolescents and young people, can ensure their problems are truly resolved,” said Brian.

Praboi, according to Brian, also requested that rehabilitation practices from other countries be studied. Particular attention will be given to educational and rehabilitation models that leverage technological advancements.

“The President also provided guidance on studying best practices from several other countries, specifically educational and rehabilitation models that utilise technological progress, which is already achievable, so that this issue can ultimately be resolved,” Brian added.

In addition to strengthening rehabilitation, the meeting also highlighted the ease of drug access among adolescents. Brian noted that the concept being developed with universities is aimed at ensuring that young people undergoing rehabilitation can recover and become productive again.

“The goal is not just to heal, but to become productive. Therefore, we will work together with universities that possess medical and psychological faculties that are already heavily involved in the rehabilitation process for drug users and addicts,” he concluded.
