Government Plans for 30-Hectare Meikarta Land Grant

Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait announced that PT Lippo Cikarang Tbk has officially signed a commitment to grant 30 hectares of land in Meikarta to the state. The land will be used to support the 3 Million Homes Programme through the construction of subsidised flats. Maruarar described the grant as a significant breakthrough, noting that the development of subsidised flats has been minimal in recent years. He stated that over the past five years, financial support for subsidised flats had only covered 140 units. The Meikarta land, which is being granted to the state, spans approximately 30 hectares. Based on prepared designs, the area will feature flats of various types, ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom units. The government is also preparing units with a floor area of 45 square metres to ensure they are more suitable for families. Maruarar confirmed that the land grant process has undergone several stages, including oversight by the Attorney General’s Office, the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), and consultation with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He stated that the land has been declared free of legal issues. The land will subsequently be processed for handover to the state before being managed through Danantara to support housing development. Maruarar expressed hope that marketing or purchase agreements for the subsidised flats in the area could begin this year. He noted that vertical housing development is one solution to address the home ownership backlog, which still stands at 9.64 million units based on the 2025 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas). This approach also aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive for more efficient land use in urban areas. In addition to the Meikarta project, Maruarar revealed that the government will soon begin constructing flats on land owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) in the Kiaracondong area.
