Government Opens Registration for National Internship Programme to Boost Human Resources

The Head of the Government Communications Body (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, stated that the National Internship Programme represents the government’s commitment to improving human resource (HR) development as part of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. Registration for the programme is open from 15 to 28 July 2026, with a quota of 50,000 participants in this wave, out of a total target of 150,000 for the year.

Qodari explained that the programme is designed to enhance the competence of the younger generation while providing work experience relevant to the needs of the business and industrial sectors. Participants will undergo a six-month internship and receive an allowance equivalent to the provincial or district/city minimum wage.

Based on evaluations of the first and second waves, which involved 65,245 participants and 7,217 mentors, over 84 per cent of participants expressed satisfaction or high satisfaction with the programme. In terms of capacity building, nearly 98.5 per cent of participants were assessed as having experienced either significant or moderate improvement in their technical competence. Furthermore, more than 97 per cent of participants stated that the allowance they received was at least sufficient to help their own or their family’s economic situation, and around 30 per cent received job offers after completing the internship.

Qodari emphasised that the government is not only focused on creating jobs but also on ensuring that the Indonesian workforce possesses the competence, productivity, and competitiveness to face global competition.
