Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The government has officially opened a major opportunity for young workers to directly contribute to strengthening village economies through the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives. Through the national selection committee, 30,000 positions for managers of Merah Putih Village/District Cooperatives are being recruited openly.

The Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs and Head of the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives Formation Task Force, Zulkifli Hasan, stated that this initial recruitment phase targets tens of thousands of candidates to be placed in various regions. He emphasised that the selection is conducted transparently without any fees.

“It is emphasised that all selection stages do not require any fees. Because we held this press conference six months ago, and since then on social media, we’ve asked who wants to become an employee, and there have been many,” said Zulkifli during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs office on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

Registration is open until 24 April 2026 and can be joined by graduates from D3 to S1 in all majors. The maximum age limit is set at 35 years with a minimum GPA of 2.75. The government has prepared an initial work scheme through a state-owned enterprise, namely PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, with a two-year contract before being transferred to the village cooperative.

The presence of these managers is key to driving village-based economic activities. The government targets the formation of 30,000 Merah Putih Kopdes units to be completed by mid-year.

Amid high public interest, he also reminded the public to be wary of fraudulent practices that misuse the selection process. He assured that there are no special channels in the recruitment.

“There are no special channels, no referrals, no parties that can guarantee passing. If there are parties asking for rewards in exchange for promises of passing, that’s a scam, a lie,” he stressed.

This programme involves various ministries and institutions, from the Ministry of PAN-RB, Ministry of Cooperatives, to the Ministry of Finance. This cross-sectoral collaboration is expected to ensure the quality of human resources recruited are truly capable of optimally managing village economic potential.

This step is part of the government’s strategy to strengthen grassroots economies, while opening new job opportunities based on modern cooperative development at the village level.
