Government Offers 30% Flight Ticket Discounts During School Holidays
The government will offer a 30% discount on flight tickets during school holidays as part of a transport sector incentive package for the second half of 2026. Another form of incentive is the Government-Borne Value Added Tax (VAT). According to Airlangga, these incentives form part of an economic stimulus to maintain public purchasing power, including during school holidays and the Nataru period. The government has prepared a budget plan divided into several components. For the school holiday transport discount programme, it has allocated Rp190 billion. The school holiday discount programme aims to reach approximately 3.07 million beneficiaries. Additionally, the government has prepared a 30% discount on economy-class flight tickets. This flight discount is also accompanied by Government-Borne VAT during the school holiday period. The budget for this programme amounts to Rp472.7 billion, targeting 2.3 million people. Furthermore, Government-Borne VAT for flights during the Nataru holiday period has been allocated Rp722 billion, targeting 3.7 million passengers, Airlangga said. He stated that the incentive package is designed to boost public mobility and stimulate other economic sectors. The government also has high hopes for national economic growth, expecting the stimulus to maintain stable economic growth. βAll of this is expected to serve as a stimulus in the second quarter,β Airlangga added.
