Government Net Debt Reaches Rp 477.4 Trillion as of June 2026
The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported that net government debt had reached Rp 477.4 trillion as of 30 June 2026. This realisation in the first semester represents 57.4 per cent of the total government debt drawdown target of Rp 832.2 trillion set in this year’s state budget (APBN). Based on Kemenkeu data, the debt financing consisted of Rp 501.2 trillion from government securities (SBN) and a negative Rp 23.8 trillion from loan financing. “Debt financing is managed prudently and measurably, taking into account government liquidity, optimal cash conditions, and financial market dynamics,” the ministry stated in its official APBN KiTa report on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Kemenkeu stated that the fulfilment of debt financing is on track through anticipatory measures and active cash and debt management, to maintain adequate government cash availability and a strong excess budget balance (SAL). “The fulfilment of the financing target considers efficient cost of funds, mitigated risks, good governance, and the maintenance of debt indicators at safe levels.” The drawdown realisation this semester increased compared to the same period the previous year, which was recorded at Rp 315.4 trillion or 40.6 per cent of the target as of June 2025. The total government debt target for this year also increased compared to the debt drawdown in 2025, which reached Rp 775.9 trillion. Debt financing is also used to cover the APBN deficit, which is targeted at Rp 689 trillion this year. Previously, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reported that the budget deficit in the first semester of this year reached Rp 196.5 trillion, or 0.76 per cent of gross domestic product. Purbaya stated that state revenue as of June had reached Rp 1,499.4 trillion, growing by 21.4 per cent. “Meanwhile, state expenditure was realised at Rp 1,656 trillion, an increase of 17.8 per cent,” he said at the APBN Kinerja dan Fakta (KiTa) press conference at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. The state treasurer also said that state revenue continued to increase from Rp 574.9 trillion at the end of March to Rp 1,459.4 trillion by the end of June. At the same time, he mentioned that state spending continues to be optimised to support various government priority programmes. On that occasion, Purbaya also mentioned that the primary balance as of 30 June recorded a surplus of Rp 85.1 trillion. According to him, these figures show that the APBN is sound, expansive, and supportive of development.
