Government measures AI adoption success by its benefits to the public
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria stated that the government measures the success of artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in public service delivery through improvements in service quality and its tangible benefits for the public.
“The measures of success are better services, better decisions, fairer access, and greater dignity in how the public interacts with the state,” he said at the AI Incubation for Public Sector Demo Day 2026 event in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.
Nezar noted that implementing AI-based solutions could help simplify and make more efficient the delivery of public services in Indonesia, a country with many islands and regions with differing needs.
To help optimise public service delivery, he said, developers need to present solutions that suit local conditions as well as the needs and literacy of residents.
“A solution that succeeds in one environment may not succeed in another without careful adaptation,” said Nezar.
“Adoption alone is not enough, adaptation is what matters most. AI must fit local languages, local norms, local data, and patterns of local needs,” he added.
Nezar also emphasised the importance of data protection and security in the use of digital technology solutions to support trustworthy public service delivery.
“AI’s promise is significant, but a promise alone is not public value. Public value emerges when technology meets real human needs, is supported by competent institutions, governed by clear protections, and shaped through collaboration,” said Nezar Patria.
