Government Mandates ASN to Work from Home Every Friday
JAKARTA - The government has officially established a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) every Friday. “The implementation of WFH for ASN in central and regional agencies will be carried out for one working day per week, namely every Friday,” said Airlangga during a virtual press conference on Tuesday (31/3/2026). According to Airlangga, this WFH policy is also regulated in a Circular Letter (SE) from the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform, as well as a Circular Letter from the Minister of Home Affairs. “It is regulated through the SE of the Minister of PANRB and the SE of the Minister of Home Affairs,” Airlangga stated. For information, this policy is made as part of cost-saving efforts in response to the high global oil prices due to the war in the Middle East region. Airlangga had previously leaked that the work-from-home policy would be implemented for one working day per week. “One day in five working days,” Airlangga revealed after a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday (19/3/2026).
