Jakarta, InfoPublik – The government continues to strengthen a healthy telecommunications industry climate to encourage the acceleration of 5G network investment, so that the public can enjoy faster, more stable internet services that reach more areas. This commitment was affirmed by Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Wamenkomdigi), Nezar Patria, when receiving an audience with the President Director and Chief Executive Officer of XLSMART at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs Office, Jakarta, Thursday (2/7/2026). According to Nezar Patria, the government is striving to create a conducive ecosystem through policies that provide certainty for industry players, including by reducing regulatory burdens so that operators have greater room to expand network investment. “We are trying to provide a healthy environment and ecosystem by implementing several regulations that take into account the condition of the telecommunications industry. We are trying to reduce regulatory costs. We want to ensure this industry runs well with healthy financial conditions,” he said. He explained that a healthy telecommunications industry is a key prerequisite for accelerating the development of next-generation networks while supporting national digital transformation. Therefore, the government continues to observe industry dynamics so that business competition remains healthy, investment continues to grow, and the quality of service to the public improves. Deputy Minister Nezar welcomed XLSMART’s aggressive steps in accelerating the implementation of 5G networks in Indonesia. According to him, the network expansion will strengthen digital connectivity while enhancing the public’s experience in utilising high-speed internet services. “I am very pleased to hear that you are undergoing this 5G transformation in Indonesia because you are very aggressive,” he said. He assessed that investment sustainability can only be maintained if the industry has healthy financial conditions. With a stronger industry structure, operators are expected to continuously improve network quality and expand service coverage. “I think the price is very reasonable for this industry. We want to ensure this industry runs well with healthy financial conditions. We are aware of the decline in revenue. But now I think with these three players, we can make the Indonesian telecommunications industry healthy. And you are also taking a very significant part with this strategy to drive 5G implementation,” said Nezar Patria. In addition to expanding the network, Nezar stressed that the success of 5G implementation must be measured by the benefits felt by the public through faster, more reliable, and higher quality services. “That is the most important thing,” the Deputy Minister emphasised when responding to XLSMART’s commitment to prioritise improving customer experience. Nezar confirmed that the government will continue to support investment and collaboration with industry players aligned with the national digital transformation agenda. The synergy between the government and telecommunications operators is considered key to accelerating the equitable distribution of high-speed internet access while enhancing Indonesia’s digital competitiveness. “We greatly appreciate your cooperation and support. And I believe we can lead a great leap towards excellence to become one of the most significant players for Indonesia and Malaysia. And we will support you all,” he concluded.
