Government Maintains Electricity Tariffs for Q2 2026
The electricity tariffs of PT PLN (Persero) for the second quarter of 2026 (April–June) remain unchanged. Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tri Winarno, explained that the decision followed a thorough evaluation of macroeconomic parameters in accordance with applicable regulations.
“The public need not worry, as the government has set electricity tariffs for Q2 2026 to remain the same,” Tri stated in Jakarta on Monday (16/3).
He explained that this determination was made to protect public purchasing power. The government also urged the public to use electricity efficiently and wisely as part of collective efforts to support national energy resilience.
Adjustments to electricity tariffs for non-subsidised customers are based on Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 7 of 2024, with periodic evaluations every three months based on changes in exchange rates, crude oil prices (ICP), inflation, and benchmark coal prices (HBA).
For Q2 2026, the parameters used are realisations from the period November 2025 to January 2026, namely an exchange rate of Rp16,743.46 per US dollar, ICP of USD62.78 per barrel, inflation of 0.22 per cent, and HBA of US$70 per tonne.
Although the formula indicates potential for tariff changes, the government decided to maintain electricity tariffs to preserve national economic stability amid global dynamics. This policy also applies to subsidised customers, who continue to receive unchanged tariffs.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that his company is ready to implement the government’s policy while ensuring the reliability of electricity supply for all customers, especially amid dynamic and uncertain global geopolitical conditions.
“In the midst of dynamic global geopolitical conditions, we appreciate the government’s step to maintain electricity tariff stability for Q2 2026,” he said.
This policy, he continued, provides certainty for the public and business world, and demonstrates the state’s presence in safeguarding purchasing power and national competitiveness,” Darmawan added.
