Government Launches 'Safe and Comfortable Space for Children' to Prevent Violence

How can educational units truly provide a safe and comfortable space for children? Not only in schools, but also in digital spaces.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has launched a national movement to build ‘Safe and Comfortable Spaces for Children’ (Rana) to prevent violence against children.

“We have agreed to create a national movement which we have named Rana, the #SafeAndComfortableSpaceForChildren movement. It is a movement to build safe and comfortable spaces for children,” said the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikens, during a press conference following a ministerial-level meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday.

This effort follows the directives of President Prabowo Subianto, who desires educational units to truly become safe and comfortable spaces for children.

The Rana movement will also be socialised in public spaces.

According to Minister Pratikno, this year’s new student admission period will serve as a momentum to socialise the importance of safe and comfortable spaces for children.

The ministerial-level meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Fajar Riza Ul Haq, the Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Aris Adi Leksono, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Romo Muhammad Syafi’i, the Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Veronica Tan, and the Deputy Minister of Human Development and Empowerment Isyana Bagoes Oka.
