Government Launches 'Bursa Wirausaha Unggulan' Aiming for 10 Million New Entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) has launched the ‘Bursa Wirausaha Unggulan’ as a strategic government step to realise the target of 10 million new entrepreneurs by 2029. Minister of UMKM Maman Abdurrahman stressed that the programme is part of the government’s efforts to increase the national entrepreneurship ratio, create new entrepreneurs, and expand labour absorption. ‘This programme is in line with the President’s direction to create 10 million new entrepreneurs by 2029. The more entrepreneurs that are born and develop, the greater the labour absorption will be,’ Maman said at the Ministry of UMKM office in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/6). The programme, part of the 2026 National Entrepreneurship and UMKM Day series, is designed to make it easier for young people, aspiring entrepreneurs, MSME actors, and business owners to access various integrated business development services, including capacity building, legality, financing, and market expansion. Maman said the 2026 National Entrepreneurship and UMKM Day commemoration was a momentum to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit while expanding opportunities for the public to build competitive businesses. He emphasised that the Bursa Wirausaha Unggulan is designed to provide comprehensive entrepreneurship coaching and empowerment from upstream to downstream, integrating services into one ecosystem. ‘The aim is to produce resilient entrepreneurs. We assist them from the initial process, equipping them with competence, business mentality, and good business planning, until finally we open access to financing and marketing,’ Maman stated. Through the programme, participants receive mentoring including training, business capacity strengthening, legality and certification facilitation, financial management training, and access to financing and marketing. Facilitated financing access includes formal financing through banks and People’s Business Credit (KUR), as well as non-formal financing through financial technology companies and other partners. The Bursa Wirausaha Unggulan activity was attended by around 1,500 students from various universities, during which an Entrepreneurship Declaration was also made as a joint commitment to strengthen the national entrepreneurship ecosystem. Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar stated the government will remain committed to encouraging the birth of new entrepreneurs while helping MSMEs grow and scale up. ‘MSMEs must continue to grow and move up. Economic growth must be contributed by MSMEs and enjoyed by MSMEs. This is what is called a just economy,’ Muhaimin said, viewing the programme as an important instrument for building an inclusive business ecosystem. Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Fauzan stressed the importance of universities’ role in producing an innovative new generation of entrepreneurs.
