Government Issues Warning Letters to TikTok and Roblox for Non-Compliance with PP Tunas
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid stated that the government has issued warning letters to the digital platforms TikTok and Roblox. The warning letters were sent because both business entities have not fully complied with Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection (PP Tunas). “The government categorises platforms that are deemed not to fully meet the rules but are making efforts or are cooperative. These are the platforms TikTok and Roblox; the government today issued warning letters to both,” said Meutya in her statement on Tuesday (31/3/2026). “If subsequently these two platforms still do not show full compliance, the government will adjust by also issuing summons letters to both platforms,” she added. Meanwhile, on the other side, platforms X and Bigo Live are two business entities that have complied with PP Tunas by delaying the user age limit. “Our monitoring over the two days since the implementation of PP Tunas and its derivative rules shows that there are two compliant platforms, namely platform X and Bigo Live, which have implemented compliance by delaying the age for child users to 16 years and above,” she explained. In the future, the government will focus on collaborating with platforms that have the intention to respect Indonesia. “Not only as a digital market, but also a commitment to legislation and legal products in Indonesia in order to carry out child protection,” she clarified. Meutya said that the path chosen by the country is to delay until children are ready to use digital platforms. “For that reason, we invite all parents and children to join in monitoring, supervising, and reprimanding platforms that refuse this compliance,” she stated.
