Government Introduces One-Roof Schools to Expand Education Access in 3T Regions
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is introducing One-Roof Schools in the most disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions to ensure high-quality education is accessible to all citizens.
“We hope the presence of these One-Roof Schools can address various educational disparities in Indonesia,” stated the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, while attending the 17th Graduation Ceremony of the Muhammadiyah University of Babel in Pangkalpinang on Thursday.
He noted that the development of the One-Roof School Programme is a mandate from President Prabowo Subianto through the fourth pillar of ‘Asta Cita’, as well as a constitutional obligation to enlighten the nation’s life by providing quality education accessible to the entire population.
“The development of One-Roof Schools is focused on the disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost regions, so that the nation’s children in these 3T areas can easily obtain high-quality, standardised education,” said Minister Abdul Mu’ti.
“There are still many children who have not had the opportunity to learn due to economic limitations, geographical conditions, disabilities, intellectual abilities, or social and cultural factors,” the Minister added.
To address these educational inequalities, the Ministry is continuously working on various programmes, one of which is the One-Roof School initiative. This model features integrated schools ranging from kindergarten, primary, and junior high, up to senior high school within a single campus.
“The One-Roof School programme can be implemented on inhabited small islands in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, ensuring that children in remote islands and isolated villages can access good and high-quality education,” concluded Minister Abdul Mu’ti.
