Government Inaugurates 20 New Mass Organisations to Oversee Prabowo's Programmes
Hashim Djojohadikusumo, chairman of the advisory board of the Forum Masyarakat Indonesia Emas (Formas), has officially inaugurated 20 new mass organisations (ormas) joining the umbrella group. The move aims to strengthen the role of civil society in supporting and overseeing various strategic government programmes.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Podomoro University Hall in Jakarta on Friday evening (7/8), coinciding with Formas’ second anniversary celebrations. With the addition of these 20 new organisations, the total membership under Formas now stands at 103 organisations, including the Indonesian Hajj Brotherhood Association (IPHI).
Hashim Djojohadikusumo stressed that Formas’ existence aligns with the founding fathers’ aspirations to achieve public welfare and safeguard Indonesia’s continuity. He noted that this spirit also underpins President Prabowo Subianto’s struggle.
“That is also embedded in Prabowo’s soul — that the people should prosper and Indonesia should endure. He is saddened to see that some people remain unprosperous, and the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme was born out of concern for the people’s health,” Hashim said in Jakarta on Saturday (8/8).
Chairman of Formas’ expert council, Serian Wijatno, explained that this consolidation represents a concrete step by mass organisations to work together in national development. According to him, mass organisations should not merely be spectators in the nation’s progress.
“This is a concrete step by mass organisations to support and oversee the development programmes implemented by the government, while also addressing the challenges Indonesia currently faces,” Serian said. He added that Formas is committed to providing constructive input and maintaining national unity.
In a similar vein, Formas chairman Yohanes Handojo Budhisedjati stated that the growing membership will strengthen civil society’s ranks in ensuring that government policies have a direct impact on public welfare.
“Formas exists to help realise people-oriented programmes. We strive to ensure that the government’s strategic policies are truly felt by the people,” Handojo said.
On the same occasion, Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar offered important remarks regarding the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. He emphasised that achieving such a major target cannot rely solely on economic indicators, technology, or demographic dividends alone.
According to the minister, national development requires a solid spiritual foundation. This is considered crucial for facing increasingly complex global challenges and maintaining national unity in the future.
