Government Implements Work From Anywhere Policy for Civil Servants During Eid, Mark the Dates!
The government has officially implemented a Flexible Working Arrangement or Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy for the State Civil Apparatus (Aparatur Sipil Negara/ASN) as a strategy to reduce congestion during the Eid holiday exodus and return migration in 2026.
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Pratikno, explained that the policy was implemented to prevent population movement from becoming congested during the national holiday and joint leave schedules.
“The government has decided on Flexible Working Arrangement on dates 16-17. Whereas date 18 is joint leave, and this coincides with the National Holiday for Nyepi Day,” said Pratikno at a press conference at the Coordinating Security Minister’s Office on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Pratikno elaborated that the extended holiday period will begin with Nyepi Day on 19 March, followed by the Eid celebration on 20-22 March 2026. The government then extended the holiday period with joint leave the following week, namely 23 and 24 March.
“After that, Flexible Working Arrangement resumes. On the date after Eid, 25 Wednesday, 26 Thursday, 27 Friday, still followed by the weekend. Then school reopening begins after that,” he said.
Through this arrangement, the government hopes that the public will have a more flexible timeframe for travelling home to their hometowns and returning to their original cities. The synchronisation between school reopening schedules and this flexible work policy is expected to be key to ensuring smooth traffic flow.
“So the synergy between school reopening, school holidays with Flexible Working Arrangement, we are coordinating with what hope? With the hope that migrant travellers do not become congested at one particular time. That is truly what we hope for,” said Pratikno.
