The government has officially implemented a national one-way scheme to manage the Lebaran 2026 return flow on Tuesday (24/3/2026). Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno stated that this policy focuses on safeguarding safety while ensuring the smooth travel of the public.

The national one-way implementation follows a previous partial one-direction scheme. This policy is strengthened through cross-agency synergy, from the Police, Ministry of Transportation, to toll road operators and safety services.

“This is part of efforts to manage the return flow, provide maximum service to the public, ease traffic density, and maintain the safety and comfort of drivers during their journeys,” said Pratikno at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Central Java, on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that as of today, around 2,380,401 vehicles have exited Jakarta via toll roads. This figure reflects the high mobility of the public during this year’s mudik and return flow period.

He assessed that the peak return flow occurs today, hence the national one-way scheme is enforced to ease congestion. The scheme is applied from KM 414 Kalikangkung to KM 70 Cikatama, accompanied by further traffic arrangements to prevent vehicle build-up heading towards Jakarta.

“Therefore, make use of all facilities provided by the government, whether in rest areas, service posts, or integrated posts. Those who are fatigued are urged to rest and not to force themselves,” said the Police Chief.

The Police Chief reminded the public to utilise the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy to manage travel times. Those who have not yet returned are advised to choose the period from 25 to 27 March so that traffic load is not concentrated on one day.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi added that the number of vehicles during today’s return flow is estimated to reach 285,000 units. The government has prepared anticipatory measures, including rest area arrangements and provision of travel information for road users.
