Government honours six individuals with Satyalancana Wira Karya award for marine and fisheries sector contributions

President Prabowo Subianto has awarded the Satyalancana Wira Karya honour for the management, development, and construction of the marine and fisheries sector in 2025 to six individuals. The award was formalised in Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 126/TK/2025.

The award recognises the recipients’ contributions to developing coastal marine and fisheries sectors across regions. The ceremony was conducted by Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian at the Kemendagri’s Sasana Bhakti Praja building in Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026.

In his speech, Minister Tito praised the recipients’ dedication in marine and fisheries. He noted the award followed a lengthy process involving multiple ministries and agencies in the selection committee.

‘After screening by the selection committee, joint checks, and field verification, we are grateful that you have been chosen for this honour,’ Tito said.

He added that despite the modest yet solemn ceremony, it did not diminish the nation’s appreciation. He stressed Indonesia’s vast marine potential makes this award a significant milestone.

The Home Affairs Minister noted that Indonesia’s maritime potential comes with management challenges, requiring leaders to drive marine and fisheries sector development from upstream to downstream.

‘We also have around 1,500 large lakes and artificial reservoirs. These hold potential to harness natural resources and divine blessings for the people’s benefit,’ he said.

Tito further urged optimal and environmentally friendly maritime development, such as high-value marine conservation projects. He also hoped the award would spur regional governments to innovate in advancing the maritime sector.

‘It is crucial to assess regional potential and utilise it to the fullest. Those honoured today possess these strengths,’ he concluded.
