Government Has Emergency Scenarios to Face Global Energy Crisis
Member of the National Energy Council (DEN) Satya Widya Yudha explained that the government already has emergency scenarios to address the global energy crisis. “So whatever happens, we already have the implementation guidelines on what must be done if it reaches that point,” said Satya, quoted from Kompas.com on Tuesday (12/5/2026). The guidelines in question are Government Regulation No. 41 of 2016 on procedures for addressing energy crisis and emergency conditions. The public need not worry about this matter. “In managing and maintaining our national energy reserves, we are still doing quite well; even in the resilience index mentioned earlier, Indonesia scores around 7.13 on a scale of 10, meaning we are still resilient,” said Satya. However, all elements of the nation should prioritise using energy as sparingly as possible. The discovery of gas and oil reserves from Sulawesi to East Kalimantan becomes a turning point in reducing energy imports. “Well, these steps, in my opinion, require cooperation between the public and the government as policymakers,” he said. He conveyed this directly to President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (12/5/2026). “Earlier, I reported to the president regarding our fuel readiness up to today, both LPG and crude (crude oil); all are above the national minimum standards. So, insha’Allah, there are no problems,” explained Bahlil, quoted from Kontan. Monitoring is conducted to anticipate any disruptions. During the meeting with Prabowo, he also discussed mining business permits (IUP), particularly for operations in forest areas. “The president has instructed this about two months ago, if I’m not mistaken, to conduct an evaluation, and I reported the developments on that,” explained Bahlil.
